Taiping Reinsurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "TPRe") was incorporated in Hong Kong in September 1980. Being the only professional reinsurance company within China Taiping Insurance Group Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Taiping" or the "group"), TPRe is the only Chinese reinsurer which maintains operating business platforms across Mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as in overseas market, whilst also holding composite licenses for underwriting general (non-life, or so-called property and casualty) and life reinsurance business.
As one of the well established reinsurance companies in Asia, TPRe actively engages in underwriting reinsurance business chiefly from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau markets; as well as in Asia Pacific territories and other parts of the world. TPRe underwrites all classes of general reinsurance as well as certain classes of life reinsurance, and currently serves clients in some 80 markets, so as to achieve coherent and balanced portfolio. TPRe's leading position in Hong Kong's general reinsurance market for the past two years consecutively was made possible in view of its unscrupulous effort. Abiding by prudent, efficient and flexible underwriting policy and management approach, TPRe has achieved "A" (strong/excellent) financial strength ratings from renown international rating agents, including S&P, A.M. Best and Fitch.
Starting from year 2012, TPRe endeavored to carry out China Taiping's initiative of "Rebuilding a New Taiping in Three Years", and accomplished the targets brilliantly after having overcome difficulties, seized opportunities and outperformed the market. For the year 2014, TPRe registered gross premium income of HK$6,108 million, net profit after tax HK$388 million and the total assets reached HK$12.75 billion.
The year 2015 marks the 35th operational year of TPRe and also the strategy of China Taiping to construct "the most unique with greatest inner forces, top-nought best quality insurance company". As a core member of China Taiping, TPRe will adhere to the group operational model of "One Client, One Taiping", strive to accelerate general and life reinsurance business growth, whilst delivering trustworthy high-quality services to customers.
